University of Cologne visits TUAT

On May 10, 2018, Professor Guenter Schwarz, Dean of the Department of Mathematics and Natural Science at the University of Cologne, made a courtesy visit to President Ohno. The Department of Mathematics and Natural Science at the University of Cologne and Graduate School of Bio-Applications and Systems Engineering (BASE) at TUAT have concluded an exchange agreement effective from 2018.
President Ohno, Vice-President Okayama, and Dean Kamiya, from the Graduate School of Bio-Applications and Systems Engineering were present during the visit. They engaged in active exchange of opinions on strengthening future collaborative research between Cologne University and TUAT.
In the afternoon, a signing ceremony for the agreement was held at the 1st Lecture Room of the BASE Building at Koganei Campus. After the ceremony, a special seminar was held by Dean Schwarz, Professor Yoichi Ando, of the Faculty of Physics, and Professor Sanjay Mathur, of the Chemistry Department also at Cologne University.
At the venue, Dean Misawa from Institute of Engineering at TUAT, who knew Prof. Ando since they were students was present with other faculty members, graduates, and undergraduate students, making the lecture hall of 60 people full. All participants were leaning forward and listening seriously to the lecture given. After the lecture, there were many questions and meaningful discussions, making it a very significant lecture.
