Characteristics of Learning in the Department of Applied Physics and Chemical Engineering
Educating engineers to realize a sustainable society based on chemistry and physics
Introduction of Department of Applied Physics and Chemical Engineering
Sustainable society requires the development of products and systems that take into account environmental impacts and energy reuse. There is a need for global human resources who have mastered both chemical and physical fields, rather than a single engineering field. The Department of Applied Physics and Chemical Engineering conducts comprehensive education and research on chemistry and physics in order to solve global issues such as energy and environment and to acquire the problem-solving ability to create new industries. First, students will focus on basic subjects such as mathematics, chemistry, and physics. From last half of the second year, students will be divided into two courses, “Chemical Engineering” and “Physical Engineering”, to study specialized subjects. Through education and research on new materials, environment, energy, etc., we have acquired the ability to solve problems, opened up new fields, and have high social needs such as "development of energy conversion devices with high efficiency and low environmental load using new materials Foster advanced global engineers who can develop issues with innovative technology.
Purpose and Characteristics of Learning A comprehensive understanding of chemistry and physics is required to acquire the ability to solve global problems such as energy and the environment and create new industries. The Department of Applied Physics and Chemical Engineering trains advanced global engineers who challenge challenges that require advanced social needs, such as “development of highly efficient energy-conversion devices using new materials and low environmental impact”.
