Faculty of Engineering Center for Design and Manufacturing
The Center for Design and Manufacturing is a TUAT facility where students engage in experiments and practical learning regarding manufacturing. The center also provides cooperation and support for the creation of equipment and devices necessary for research activities. The center serves a fundamental role supporting research and education activities at TUAT.
The center has two leaders who manage its machine tools and provide guidance and advice to users. In 2006, some twenty cutting-edge machine tools were installed and the center's manufacturing workshop was completed.
In terms of total machine usage, the facility has been used around 2,300 times by laboratories in various departments and around 500 times by university circles (such as Team Enelab, R.U.R. Robotics Club, Formula, and the Laboratory of Aerospace Technology). As part of practical learning during the latter half of education in the Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering (in which some 130 students are enrolled), students use around twenty machines to create their own Stirling engines.
